Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart. - Steve Jobs

Dirty Dash 5k

The boys got together to run the 5k Dirty Dash. Jake was excited to be the older brother & push Greg down in the mud so he could beat him to the finish line.

They had over 5,000 participants this year, so they ran the race in waves every 20 minutes.

Here's the dirty dash hand print. It's a signature move you'll find on booties and chests of most participants male or female.

And they're off!

First section is an uphill climb in mud. Our friend Kris turfed it in his first 3 steps.

The funnest part is always the wall climb. You can see Jake clear in the back.

I like how he perfectly blends into the mud except for his face sticking out.

Safe!

It looks like Greg's back is going to break in this shot.

Almost to the finish line.

I told them to belly flop at the same time & this is what I got. Even better.

I'm pretty sure Jake is still trying to get mud out of the various places he didn't know he had.

This final climb

Followed by the final slide.......

or splash

I think they had fun.

You really need to blow these pictures up to appreciate all of the dirt in their teeth.

Showers were as ice cold as ever. They had warm showers for 3 bucks. Jake vowed to bring cash next year.

Post Dirty Dash ritual. Giant nap.

9:17am: Watching my fluorescent green gum launch into the gutter & float down stream.

9:30am: Ultra sound finally!

10:00am: Disappointed because my baby is lazy & shy & refuses to get into a position where we can get any good shots or determine gender. Legs are glued together like a pair of unopened chop sticks.

10:05: Went pee.

10:15am: Meeting with nurse because Doctor is out of town. Explained that my big toe no long has muscle function & my foot is following suit. My explanation, “I stare at my toe & tell it to move, but it just stares back." Get strange looks & referred out to neurologist.

10 Year Anniversary

Jake & I drove to Tahoe for our 10 year anniversary. (Note to self. Never do that again. Long boring drive.) We spent 2 days skiing at Heavenly resort & a day wandering around Reno. After our first day of skiing we got stuck for an hour in a blizzard waiting for a bus. Yes, that's 3 inches of snow on my hat. When the bus finally got there we were greeted by a bus driver with dreadlocks playing rastafarian music. The bus was crammed with skiers all sining along to the music. Best bus ride ever. Views were amazing.
It snowed about 4 feet the day before we got there so we had 2 days perfect powder to ski in.

We went to an automobile museum in Reno. It was actually my favorite part of the trip. They mostly focused on automobiles from the late 1800's to the 1950's. The vehicles in the earl 1900's were the best. Each one completely unique because nothing was mass manufactured yet.

How would you like to take a ride in the 1892 Phillion.

You'd look something like this.

Check out the steering wheel.

Appropriate riding wear early 1900's.

Get out of my way!

My favorite was all of the various shaped head light. How did they light them you ask? Kerosene. That's until they remembered how flammable it is. Candles were also used.

Here's a 1904 Knox that you could buy for $2400. It comes equipped with baskets attached for you golfing & picnicking pleasure.

Need fuel? Cuz you can buy some out of a giant fuel pump that looks like it came straight out of a cartoon.

1921 Rolls-Royce.

1941 Chrysler

1936 Mercedes-Benz

The Thomas Flyer - Known for winning the 1907 automobile race around the world.

It was really cool to see all of the scars from the trip around the world. Various different types of tires for different terains. Linen cloth replaced by sailors who took the original leather work from the car. A headlight smashed in from a crash with a duck. Lots of stories. I'm sure if ducktape had been around, this vehicle would have been wrapped in it. Pretty amazing what they did.

My favorite. This is the 1938 Phantom Corair. It's a wicked cool looking car but not very practical. The front windows are so tiny you can barely see out of them. The passengers in the back face backwards with no backseat window. And there are no door handles on the outside doors.

We also got to see a modern collection of cars. This is the picasso. It's much cooler in person.

This is the last night I was actually able to eat food. Technically the first day of our trip. Poor Jake spent half the trip with me wandering around trying to find anything that I could stand to put in my stomach. (Note to self. Do not go on anniversary trip when you have morning sickness. It ruins everything!) We had a good time, but the thought of Reno, skiing, or casino's literally brings up bile in my throat.

Burning Questions You Want To Know

(Pardon the lack of paragraphs. My blog page has stopped letting me make paragraphs. It's making me crazy!) Now that the cat is out of the bag, I thought I'd answer some of those burning questions that everyone wants to know. How did you find out? The ancient spirit gods came to me in a dream and told me I was past my time and I should pee on a stick. I did and the stick spoke to me and said.......... "Yes." When did you found out? Middle of Febuary. I found myself standing in the middle of the grocery store with a bag of chips, a package of cookies, gummies worms, & a can of easy cheese. I added the pregnancy stick as an after thought. Have you been sick? Am I a female that is pregnant? Did you use anything? You mean besides heroin & cocaine? This has been an unusual question for me asked by some people I assume based on length of marriage and age. Nope. All natural. Hence Jake's peacock strut in the video. Twins? Gratefully no. I can only handle one leech at a time. Have you been to the doctor? Two visits so far. One alien looking ultrasound and a strong heartbeat of 160 as my rewards for attending. Do you think it's a boy or girl? I'm leaving that question up to God and pondering more on whether it will be a day walker or a ginger. (Remember only a ginger can call another ginger a ginger.) What is the Willy Wonka? All I ever heard prepregnancy was about morning sickness & labor. Nausea, throw up, mood swings & labor pains. Nobody ever told me that I wouldn't poop for 2 weeks at a time!! When I finally get the urge to go, it's a 3-4 hour adventure of doubled over pain, turning pale, occassionally throwing up, getting dizzy, going through hot & cold sweats & nearly passing out from pain. I call this the Willy Wonka because I remind myself of the candy machine that gurgles, burbs, beebs, buzzes & sprays steam, & in the end produces one little tiny piece of candy. That's right family. After all of that doubled over pain, I get one little tiny piece of candy out of it. One little everlasting gobstopper. Do you have any cravings? ........................sorry I think I just vomited in my mouth.........I can't be around foo.................... excuse me again, please don't mention anything about foo......................I'll be in the restroom. How's my mood? I will defer the question to Jake although I will mention that he is still alive with all limbs and organs intact. I think I'm doing well. What have you learned so far? a. Clearly God is not a women b. There must be some serious forgetful genes to make woman want to do this a second time c. All things in their most natural form smell like vomit & dead animal. That is all.

Ladies & Gentlemen!

Jake and Kelly Collett put together an awesome music video that I think you would all get a kick out of. Trust me, there will never be another time in your life where you will see Jake quite like this. We want to know what you think before we send it out to the world in a week. Click HERE for the video. The only thing technically I think I need to mention is: Sometimes you might have to download a plugin. The video type is (wmv) Windows Media Video. And double click to make it full size. I tried in IE, Firefox, and Chrome, all seemed to work fine. Does not work on Ipod phones or Ipads. Shoot a message if you have any problems
