You visit 6 different villages while you are there. The Tongan village was all about the drums.
Of course we have to have a little audience participation. This Japanese man was halarious. The Tongan performer told him to say "are you ready," in japanese and the little guy in the grass skirt yelled, "Are you ready in japanese!" So funny.
The guy in the straw hat was another audience member. The performer did a huge long drum set & then spoke in tongan for about 30 seconds. He then turned to the guy in the hat & said "Now you repeat." The guy sat there looking stunned for a minute and the suddenly bust out with "Who let the dogs out. Who, who, who, who" and then banged the drums in tune. We were all laughing so hard we had tears rolling down our faces. The performer could hardly get his composure back he was laughing so hard.
This is the village of Samoa. This is one of the funniest performers I've ever seen. He used a lot of humor as he demonstrated how to open a coconut & light a fire using a coconut. He also put the fire out with his foot. Ouch.
We enjoyed the Samoan show so much, we went back for a second round. By the way, it's illegal in Hawaii to take a picture without the hang loose sign.
