Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart. - Steve Jobs

Submarine Tour

As many of you know, I have a wee bit of a fear of the ocean. We were going to attempt snorkeling, but decided to go with a safer route instead. We took a boat out to a submarine and were able to safely view all of the fish from a good distance.
Here's a view of Waikiki beach as we drove away from it. Our hotel is the blue one in the middle. The hotel with coloring on the side is one of the Hilton Village hotels.

At one point on the boat ride I got mobbed by a bunch of Japanese tourists. One lady asked me for a "picture." and before I knew it, I was almost as popular as the captain. I felt bad though cuz my hair was blowing all over in the wind. So if they were trying to get a picture with a tall blond American, all they got was the tall part.

This is the volcano Diamond Head that we hiked earlier that morning.

The blue people.

We went down to a depth of 100 feet. It is rumored that this is the number one dive site in the world. We went past several man made coral reefs. This is a traditional American coral reef.

This is a typical Japanese coral reef.

If you blow this picture up, you will see a poor little penguin tied to the left side of the coral reef.

We saw two planes that they had placed on the bottom of the ocean for scuba diving. They were originally full planes but after a hurrican came through the planes were totally demolished.

The coolest part was the sunken boat that we went past. It was a very active coral reef. We past a shark and an endagered sea turtle that was sleeping on the boat. As we went past the boat, the sea turtle swam right past the windows.

Part of the ship.

The man made coral reefs were nothing like what I thought they would be. I pictured something like the fake stuff that we put in a fish take. Really it was just material put together in different ways to provide hiding spots for sea life to take cover from the bigger fish.
